About Us

     The Mavericks Square Dance Club was established in 1962. The first class was held on October 1, 1962, at a school in Sacramento. At that time, there were 63 square dance clubs in the area. All the clubs were members of the Northern California Square Dancers Association, currently called Associated Square Dancers of Superior California (ASDSC).

 

     During the years, the Mavericks had several callers. All classes, workshops and Saturday night dances were held in school gymnasiums in Sacramento and Carmichael.

 

     In October 1968, the President of the Northern California Square Dancers Association recognized the Mavericks for having the largest membership of all 63 clubs in the area.

     A year later, the Mavericks moved to Roseville's Veterans Memorial Hall at Royer Park, 110 Park Dr., Roseville, CA, facilitated by a club member who belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars and knew the Veteran's Hall location included a large dance floor. At that time, Mavericks held Saturday night dances once a month in the hall.

 

     Today, continue our residence Roseville's Veterans Memorial Hall and at we dance on Mondays (except New Years, Christmas, and the 4th of July), hold Round Dance, Plus, and Advanced workshops on Mondays, and offer classes for beginners on Wednesday evenings.
